Sunday, December 29, 2024, was a rainy day across all of West Michigan. The rain never seemed to let up as it fluctuated between light showers and downpours.

How Much Rain Fell in Michigan on December 29, 2024?

Grand Rapids, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Jackson, Saginaw, and most of the surrounding areas saw anywhere from 1 to 1.5 inches of rain throughout the day. Had that been snow, the experts say that Grand Rapids would be looking outside at 8 to 14 inches of snow.

Needless to say, many of us are glad that it was just rain.

A little further south of Jackson (closer to Adrian), the map shows that they would have received anywhere from 12 to 16 inches of snow. (Bet they're glad it was only rain, too.)

If you're a snow-lover, don't worry - after this mini-heatwave we've been seeing across Michigan over the past week or so, temperatures are expected to start dropping going into New Year's Day, and snow is in the forecast for the end of the week.
