Western Michigan University, located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, had never won a national college championship for men's hockey.
When they made it to the Frozen Four this year (beating defending national champions Denver in the first round), many outsiders thought that winning it all would be impossible. On Saturday night, the Broncos proved the nay-sayers wrong.
Western Michigan University Wins First National Hockey Championship in School History
Views of the crowd at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri, showed one thing - Kalamazoo showed up for the Broncos.
While there were pockets of red, showing that there were some Boston University fans in the crowd, it was primarily a sea of brown and yellow.

The Broncos handily beat the Terriers 6-2.
This was the first national championship for the Western Michigan hockey team since the team was started 52 years ago.
Following the win, with the heads adorned with pieces cut from the goaltender's net, the team paid tribute to their fans in the crowd.
