Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Most Of West Michigan
The first heavy snowfall is upon us. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Mason, Lake, Oceana, Newaygo, Muskegon, Ottawa, Kent, Allegan, Barry, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, and Calhoun counties.
The winter weather advisory is in effect from 1 AM Friday to 7 AM Saturday morning. Expect total snow accumulations of 3-5 inches and wind gusts up to 35 mph.
The snow is expected to come in a couple of stages. First, we will get 1-3 inches on Friday morning, then we will get another couple of inches of lake effect snow throughout the Friday and into Saturday morning.
The National Weather Service warns that you should "Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute."
Lake effect snow is also expected to continue through the weekend and into early next week. You can read more about the forecast at Weather.gov.
