WTF Michigan?! This Can’t Be Our Favorite Romance Film…
Love is weird and Michiganders are even weirder.
The website, Streaming Observer, used data from Rotten Tomatoes and Google searches to find the romantic movie each state is "obsessed with this Valentine's Day."
Overall, the most searched one [in the U.S.] is Titanic -- a classic so not too surprising. And New York is the state with the most interest in romantic movies. I blame Sex & The City for that because I'm still hopeful on having a life as fabulous as Carrie Bradshaw.
What has me saying "WTF" is that Michigan's favorite romantic movie is Her. The 2013 film stars Joaquin Phoenix who's character falls in love with his computer's operating system (voiced by Scarlett Johansson). Definitely not the first movie that comes to mind when thinking romance. Can't help but wonder how many Michiganders are all dating Alexa. Although a strange movie, Her does have a 94% Rotten Tomatoes rating and was nominated for five Oscars.
I'm not sure what's more weird... Her, or, The Shape of Water being the flick that New Mexico is obsessed with. You know, the one about a woman who falls in love and hooks up with a government-kept fish-man.
Um. Hello!! I don't mean to sound cliche but how did we forget about Ryan Gosling in The Notebook? Or Kate Hudson in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days?! How did a robot and a fish get more recognition? Crazy, Stupid, Love.
