Be careful with Craigslist transactions!

Brianna Torrez is spending some time at the Kent County jail after robbing a man she met on Craigslist.

It wasn't a romantic meet up, she posted an ad for an iPhone. Fox 17 reports she met her victim near Lamar Park on October 6 for an exchange, but the man was beaten by her accomplice with a baseball bat. Torrez then stole the man's car keys and $300.

Torrez was arrested and is now facing charges of armed robbery and using a computer to commit a crime. She could face up to life in prison. The man with the baseball bat has been identified by police, but not yet charged.

This is a solid reminder of how dangerous it can be to meet up for an exchange. This is a great time to remind sellers and buyers that area police stations provide a safe haven for exchanges. East Grand Rapids and Lowell police departments are just two of those safe havens.
