Where You Should Get Those Must-Have Gameday Foods Around Grand Rapids
Football season is about to wrap up with one of the biggest sporting events of the year coming up on Sunday, February 12th. And While the Lions won't be playing (again) this year, that doesn't mean you can't have a huge party and invite all of your people over.
But maybe you're like me and you're not exactly the iron chef. There's no shame in taking advantage of some of the great restaurants in West Michigan that offer wings, pizza and nachos that you can serve up for your friends and family while you watch the game (or the commercials.)
Best Wings
Detroit Wing Company
Yes, they are named after a city across the state, but if you want some of the best local wings, this is your stop. They've been named best Wings in Michigan by multiple blogs, and it's easy to see why.
You can order ahead to get some of the "biggest" wings in the city, so that you don't have to worry about running your air fryer non-stop on the big day. Plus they offer Faygo... you can't lose!
Mike's Wings
If you want to go really local, this spot on Monroe is the type of place that feels like you're buying from friends. They have the giant things of kool-aid, and fresh made baked goods offered on the counter.
They also offer fish and seafood, in case you have other wants and wishes for your game day spread. You can order ahead using their website.
Best Pizza
Mitten Brewing
I'm putting Mitten Brewing at the top of the list because if you're trying to build a spread, their Pizza flight is perfect.
You can get six different types of Pizza for under $30, leaving you less lame than just grabbing a few boring cheese and pepperoni pizzas. However, this one is only available in house. However, their pizza selection is top tier, so even if you're taking it to go there's something unique for your household.
Martha's Vineyard
This corner store has the most slept on pizza in the city of Grand Rapids as far as I'm concerned.
Not only can you grab whatever beer and wine you need for your party in the actual grocery, they make their pizzas to order using their oven and they're perfect for anyone wanting gourmet for the group without breaking your budget.
Best Nachos
Brewery Vivant
Listen, if you want trash can nachos you should make those at home yourself. If you want to go hard, with the most unique nachos in Grand Rapids: this is your best choice.
These nachos have made best of lists across America, and with their duck topping, they're sure to make everyone brag about your party for months.
Adobe In & Out
A tried and true go to for West Michiganders is Adobe In & Out.
Their chips are made in house, and they have a nacho platter for even the pickiest eaters. The supreme looks like what Nachos are on TV and movies, and they would look great in your game day spread.
Honorable Mentions:
While you can always get drinks at any of our many local breweries or party stores, don't forget about your sober friends and DDs on the big day.
I really love Alt City Beverage Company because they offer non-alcoholic spirits, so you can make a booze-free version of your favorite cocktails.
So enjoy the big day, be safe, and chow down. And more importantly: support these great local eateries when you're cheering on your favorite teams.
