A black bear failed to correctly estimate the speed of an on coming pick up truck in Leelanau County yesterday and wound up pinned underneath it.

Clearly this bear wasn't Yogi, who is smarter than the average bear, but he is lucky. Big time.

The bear was smacked pretty good by the pick up truck, but up north bears are tough, and the little guy's gonna be alright.

A 58 year old Suttons Bay woman struck the bear on North Center Highway, and her last minute effort to hit the brakes may have saved his life.

The Leelanau County Sherriff's Department posted a photo of the pinned bear yesterday, and although we looks in pain, he got up and immediately ran back into the woods, where he has quite the story to tell his mates.

The woman was lucky too, as it appears her truck suffered minimal damage.
