The Best Restaurant in Grand Rapids That Closed Due to COVID is Back!
COVID19 sure took a "bite" out of the restaurant business. We sadly lost some very popular spots. Grove, on Cherry Street in the East Hill neighborhood, was one of them. But now, all of us foodies can rejoice because Grove is coming back!
We haven't seen Grove since it's closing on March 16, 2020. Man, that's hard to believe, isn't it, nearly 2-years! Next week on Wednesday, February 23rd, the doors will re-open with a refreshed menu, redesigned interior and deeper focus on sustainability while continuing to provide the same culinary creativity and dining experience that it has long been known for.
Grove was probably the region’s first "farm-to-table" dining concepts and boy, did it take off. But then, 2020 and COVID hit, and that was that.
The Essence Restaurant Group, who also owns Bistro Bella Vita and The Green Well, tried to make something out of the space. Remember Jimmy Berger’s Chicken Shack?
They have been working on this for awhile, so inside you'll find a transformed interior with a modern, open dining room with more natural light and lighter colors. But the most notable change to Grove will be the menu centered around seasonal produce and sustainably raised proteins from local family farms and vendors.
Essence managing partner, Jim Berg, says:
“From start to finish, we have created an intimate dining experience unmatched in the region.”
Grove will have seating for 86. Reservations are certainly recommended.
To start, grove will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 4 – 9 pm.
