Can't decide if you want apple pie or pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving?  Why not both?

Click of Six member, Meghan (of Desserts by Meghan fame) came in to the studio last week and hooked us up with a Pumpkin Dutch Apple Pie.  This pie is pretty much the best of both worlds.  So, unlike many recipe websites, I will spare you the story about the history of the pie and just get right to the recipe.

Ingredients

Apple Filling

  • 3 apples (peeled, sliced, cored)
  • 1/4 stick of butter
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 2 tsp. flour
  • 1/2 tbl. lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Pumpkin Filling

  • 15 oz. pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 stick of butter

Crumble Topping

  • 1/2 stick butter (hard, cubed)
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans

Directions

  1. Lay down your pie crust
  2. Saute apples in all ingredients until apples are soft
  3. Let the apples cool
  4. Mix all pumpkin filling ingredients together in a bowl
  5. Places apples in prepared crust
  6. Pour pumpkin mixture on top of apples
  7. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes
  8. Combine crumble topping and cover top of pie
  9. Bake another 20 minutes
  10. Chill in fridge and enjoy
