West Michigan Community Helps Animal Shelter Recover After Devastating Loss
A West Michigan non-profit recently experienced a devastating financial loss and reached out to the community for help.

Harbor Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter in West Olive.
Originally founded in 1956 as Ottawa Shores Humane Society.
They have been serving the west Michigan community and beyond for over 50 years.
They have the municipal contract for Ottawa County and deal with a lot of animals each year with an average of over 3,500 animals entering their facility each year as strays, animals transferred in, and owner surrenders.

On Friday, September 19th, Harbor Humane shared on social media that the fridge they used to store vaccines and clinic supplies died unexpectedly, leaving them with no other option but to throw them away.
In total nearly $5,000 worth of vaccines were lost along with the fridge.
Harbor Humane reached out to the community for help and they stepped up in a big way.
Just a few days later on Monday, September 22nd, they posted another update sharing some great news.
Harbor Humane was able to collect $5,000 in donations along with several people offering to help them out with a replacement fridge.
Harbor Humane said that any additional funds raised beyond replacing the vaccines and fridge will go toward their building fund.
