One of the nice things about living in Michigan is that we're neighbors with Canada.

You can drive across the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit and end up in Windsor in just a few minutes. However, there are some factors that could prevent you from crossing the border into Canada, and you might not even be aware of them.

Let me take you back to when all of my friends turned 19. We chipped in and rented a party bus that took us from Michigan to Windsor. If you didn't know, the legal drinking age in Windsor is 19, unlike here in the United States, where it's 21.

As we piled onto the bus and made our way to the Canadian border, we were so excited to let loose and drink all the alcohol we could get our hands on.
But before the night even got started, we encountered a significant problem.
It turned out several people on the bus had been charged with Minor In Possession (MIP), and the guards at the Canadian border would not let them into the country.
As a result, two people had to be dropped off back in Detroit while the rest of us enjoyed an awesome night bar hopping across Windsor.
