WZZM-13 reports that GRPD is reminding drivers that they can incur a $170 fine for "Using private/ public property to avoid a device." Not only will it cost drivers money, it will also tack on two points.

This was posted to the GRPD Facebook page Monday night:

Fair Warning: Our officers are writing numerous tickets to people avoiding traffic control devices (Road Closed Signs) and putting numerous patrons at risk who are conducting business at the corner stores by cutting through their lots. If you cut through a lot to avoid the detour, you are putting yourself at risk for a $100 + citation and points on your license. Remember, we are videotaping your infractions with our In car video cameras. Please use the detour and avoid this intersection for the next 10-14 days unless you are visiting the businesses. Thank you.
