Dan Gilbert Proposes Building Michigan’s Tallest Skyscraper In Detroit
Michigan may have a new tallest building in it's future. Dan Gilbert, CEO of Quicken Loans, has proposed constructing the tallest building in Michigan on the site of the old Hudson's Building in downtown Detroit.
The new building will reach 52 stories into the sky and will creep a solid 7 feet above the tallest building in the state, The Renaissance Center. The new building will be 734 feet tall, and would include 250 rental apartments, offices and theater and retail space.
The new residential building will cost upwards of $700 million and is even estimated to cost more than the new Red Wings Arena (Little Caesars Arena.) If the plan gets approved, construction will break ground on December 1, 2017 and the project will be completed by 2020.
