Being new to town, a “date night” with my wife Alicia is a must. We love amazing food and wine as well as a unique atmosphere. Other cities do Restaurant Week, so when we were told that Grand Rapids had it, we were pumped. Restaurant Week is a chance for you to step into beautiful high end restaurants in the area and sample the best of what they have to offer.  Charley's Crab was the first choice for us to enjoy. With amazing waterfront views of the city and a fancy fancy atmosphere, we were excited for this restaurant all day.

We stopped at the bar for a drink before going all “Seafood” up in that place. After we both sampled some of, as Alicia says, “fruit forward chardonnay” our bellies were ready for the next step. For just $28 each you receive a soup or salad, entree and dessert. Alicia ordered the chowder and I had a watermelon salad with sorbet (awesome raspberry ice cream). Shrimp, scallops and salmon later, my wife finally thought I was looking attractive. (Good food puts her in her happy place.) What can make it better you ask? Strawberry SHORTCAKE!!! Yummy yummy in my Fishy tummy (except when I turned my head and Alicia stole a little … SON OF A B!!!).

Seriously, I am all for restaurant week and if you don’t check out some of the places, you are falling behind in affordable dating.

Thanks Charley’s Crab for a great night and incredible service. I am a big fan of the restaurant, food, wine and more importantly excellent customer service.
