Grand Rapids Man Almost Threw Away $1 Million
I bet this guy would be kicking himself so hard if he did the unthinkable but thankfully his gut is what saved him.
The Michigan Lottery says that a Grand Rapids man was out to dinner at Tommy Brann's Steakhouse in Wyoming with his family when he saw the lotto machine on his way back from the bathroom and decided to buy a couple tickets. After scratching them and seeing that none of them were winners he tossed them to the side, but before leaving something told him to "look at them again."
...and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a $1 million winner.
The man, who chose to remain anonymous, won a $1,000,000 playing The Big Spin which is a $10 scratch-off ticket. He recently claimed his winnings at the lottery office and decided to take the one-time payout of $634,000.
The big question that everyone always wants to know "what are you going to do with the money?!" He says he plans on buying a new home and helping his dad start a business.
According to the Michigan Lottery, The Big Spin was introduced in July 2019 and has prizes between $10 and $1 million. Since its launch, the game has paid out a total of $31 million to winners. There are still three $1 million prizes left to be won playing The Big Spin.
Last week, a man from Dearborn Heights accidentally bought two Mega Millions tickets with the same exact numbers but it ended up working out for him since the numbers hit... making him a double millionaire!
