I really REALLY love mini golf. Like, an insane amount.

I grew up on a golf course in rural Kentucky, and as soon as I could walk my late father put a putter in my hand and told me to hit the "teeny tiny grass", which was what I called the green. But, my long game has never been worth a crap, so I really find myself enjoying playing as much mini golf as humanly possible.

Grand Rapids has 6+ mini golf choices, and while they're all vastly different and fun, there is something uniquely special about the one I kept driving past over and over in Grandville

Loeschner's Village Green Miniature Golf Course is unique in multiple ways. Not only was it built in 1955 by the current owner's grandfather, it's also a mini golf course that's basically in someone's back yard.

Don't let the house in the front fool you, they have a legitimate "clubhouse" and "snack shack", so you're not going to feel like you're hanging out in someone's backyard.

They offer two courses, the upper course which features "moving obstacles" (they weren't working when I was there, but it didn't make any difference to the game.) and 19 holes for you to enjoy.

Or, you can do the lower course, which is stationary but comes with 20 holes instead. (forget the standard 18, we do what we want around here.)

The holes are still the original layout from 1955, so it feels like stepping back in time, and they have some great challenges. One of my favorite holes is the one where you have to bounce a ball over a ramp to another part of a hole, something I'd never seen at another mini golf course.

(This is me accidentally hitting my Fiancé with the ball while trying the hole mentioned above... sorry James!)

And it's pretty affordable to enjoy yourself - My fiancé and I were able to play the upper course together for just $20, and adding the lower course to do both would have only been $30. It's absolutely cheaper than seeing a movie, and a lot more fun too.
