Heads Up if You’re Flying Out Of The Gerald R Ford Airport
So if you're about to travel for the holidays and that takes you through the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, you're probably going to need to allow extra time to get through check-in and security, because construction at the ticket counter area when you first walk in, is causing a few delays to get you to the gate.
When you first come in you'll see walls up around the different airlines, and because space is lost, there are a lot of lines, just for checking in to the different airlines - it's definitely taking longer than we're all used to.
Then you add in the extended security lines, with everyone traveling and all of a sudden, you've missed your flight because you still thought this was easy 'ol Grand Rapids airport.
I also found out that Thursday mornings seem to be the busiest times for the airport in general, according to the airport staff I talked to about waiting in line for 45 minutes to get through security.
I just wanted you to have the heads up if you're like me and it's been a little bit since you had to go to the airport to fly out. Happy Holidays
