Justin Timberlake Talks ‘Moronic’ Fashion Choices During ‘N Sync Era
A moron. That’s what the usually sharp dressed man known as Justin Timberlake thinks he looked like during his tenure in ‘N Sync. Looking back at some of the photos of their attire, we’re not going to dispute his criticism of himself, even though we love him just the same.
In the new issue of Details (quotes via Daily Mail), JT admits that his fashion choices were questionable. But you know what they say about hindsight! He declared, “There were many moments in my teenage years where I succumbed to, um, the weirdness of the group I was in. And in trying to conform — we’re marionettes — I ended up looking like a moron.”
Remember, on the cover of ‘No Strings Attached,’ Timberlake and his bandmates appeared with puppet strings attached to them. It’s a metaphor that many boy bands speak of when it comes to the Svengali-like managers that put them together.
He also spoke about their overdone coifs, saying, “I don’t like when I see guys do too much hair gel.” He was quick to come to the defense of the beloved ‘Jersey Shore’ resident DJ, saying, “I don’t mean Pauly D, because that’s basically performance art. But when you use enough hair gel that your hair becomes a sculpture — and you wanted it to look that way? It’s just weird.”
Well, since ‘N Sync had millions of fans, we don’t think they were overly critical of JT’s style of dress or gel-hardened hair.
However, we can’t forgive him and former girlfriend Britney Spears for their matching all-denim ensemble. That was a fashion faux pas and travesty of the highest order, whether they were puppeteered into wearing it or not.
