Kent County Man Turns $300 Lottery Win Into Massive $714K Jackpot

A 39-year-old Kent County man (who asked to remain anonymous) was already feeling “super lucky” when he walked into Meadowbrooke Mobil on Town Center Court in Grand Rapids.

He normally sticks to scratch-off tickets, but on this particular day, he decided to try something different: a Super Lucky 7s Fast Cash ticket from the Michigan Lottery.

That first ticket netted him a $300. (If it were me, you’d catch me at the 76th Street Truck Diner buying everyone’s meal.) But instead of calling it a day, he decided to push how far his good luck could go.

“When I cashed that ticket, I used $20 of my winnings to buy a Super Lucky 7s ticket,” he told Michigan Lottery officials. “I scanned the ticket on the Michigan Lottery app and started shaking when I saw I’d won $714,891. The first thing I did was walk over and give the cashier a hug!”

He recently made the trip to Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his prize, and his plans for the money are to pay off bills, put money into his children’s college funds, and save the rest for the future. Honestly, not a bad jump start to make the next few years of your life much easier.
