Taylor Swift Breaks Internet, Name Drops Jared Goff in First Podcast Interview
Taylor Swift has officially broken the internet yet again with her first-ever Podcast appearance.
The pop superstar made her first-ever podcast appearance this week on New Heights, hosted by her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.
Fans were already buzzing before the episode even aired, but about 8 minutes in, Taylor delivered the moment everyone in Michigan is talking about.
She revealed that on her very first date with Travis, she asked him what it was like to “play across the field” from his brother during the 2023 Super Bowl. Sounds sweet, right? Well, there’s just one small detail… both Travis and Jason play offense, meaning they’d never actually be on the field at the same time.
That’s when Travis realized Taylor knew nothing about football. And to her credit, she owned it completely, going on to explain that she thought all players were on the field at all times.
(To be fair, for those of us who didn’t grow up memorizing NFL playbooks, it’s an easy enough assumption.)
As she was describing her misunderstanding, Taylor threw in the name of Lions quarterback Jared Goff as an example of how she imagined every player switching between offense and defense mid-game.
Jason couldn’t stop laughing at the mental image of Goff lining up to make a tackle, which, let’s be honest, is something Lions fans probably don’t want to see unless it’s in a trick play.

The clip immediately went viral, with both Swifties and football fans flooding social media. For Detroit, it was a perfect little pop culture moment that our QB got name-checked by the biggest music star on the planet, and in the funniest, most endearing way possible.
(And honestly? With the way the Lions’ roster was battling injuries last season, maybe Jared Goff would have ended up on defense if things got desperate enough.)
Stranger things have happened in Detroit sports. For now, we’ll just enjoy the fact that Taylor Swift unintentionally gave Lions Nation a shoutout heard around the world.
