Michigan Drivers That Do This On The Highway Drive Me Crazy!
I spent 4 hours on Michigan highways yesterday and was once again reminded about how dumb some Michigan drivers can be.
I hit the road around 8:30 am leaving Grand Rapids and heading East on 96 towards White Lake.
I was going to my cousin's funeral to pay my respects.
Both on the way to White Lake and back to Grand Rapids I encountered clueless drivers that made me want to run into them as if we were in bumper cars at the fair.
What made me wanna pop my top and have a case of road rage?
Michigan Drivers That Do This On The Highway Drive Me Crazy!
People that stay in the left lane while on the highway drive me crazy.
If you didn't know, it's the law in Michigan to be in the right lane and the left lane is for passing only.
For example, if you want to pass a semi-truck that's doing 65 mph in the right lane you flip on the turn signal to indicate that you're going to switch lanes, and once you safely do so you then pass that semi-truck and use your turn signal once again to indicate that you're getting back into the right lane.
My brother-in-law did this once when we drove up north to Traverse City for wine tasting.
People were becoming frustrated that he was in the left lane and wanted to pass.
I finally had to speak up as the front-seat passenger princess and tell him to move to the right lane unless he was passing someone.
Is It Against The Law To Drive In The Left Lane?
If you don't believe what I'm saying about the left lane being for passing only take a look at Michigan vehicle code 257.634.
I'm terrible with big words and all that mumbo jumbo so here's a simpler breakdown of what the law means.
If you're driving on a road with two lanes you are supposed to drive in the right-hand lane. You can use the left lane for overtaking or passing another vehicle.
When driving on a freeway that has 3 or more lanes, you're allowed to use ANY lawfully available lane.
You may not be breaking the law on a freeway with 3 lanes or more but you're still a terd in my book if you drive slow in the left lane when I wanna pass.
Please share this with anyone that is a left-lane driver so hopefully, they can change their way.
I expect this kind of driving from people in Ohio, but not my fellow Michiganders.
