On June 28, 2024, Governor Whitmer named Mayor Bliss to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Executive Committee.

The MEDC Executive Committee plays a key role in guiding Michigan's economic growth.

It helps set policies and directions for programs that aim to boost the state's economy.

As a member, Mayor Bliss will have a say in approving budgets and choosing the organization's top leader.

Mayor Bliss brings her valuable experience to this role.

She has been the mayor of Grand Rapids, Michigan's second-largest city, since 2016.

Before becoming mayor, she served on the City Commission for 10 years.

Bliss has a background in social work and has been recognized for her community leadership.

In her new position, which runs until April 2027, Mayor Bliss will represent public entities on the committee.

She expressed excitement about joining, noting that economic development is crucial not just for Grand Rapids but for all of Michigan.

Grand Rapids has been so lucky to have Bliss as our mayor.
