100-Car Pileup On I-196: How It Compares To Michigan’s Worst Crash
West Michigan drivers faced some terrible road conditions this morning.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office told Fox 17, that around 10:19 a.m., deputies were called to the area of westbound I-196 near Hudsonville after getting reports of numerous crashes and slide-offs, including several jack-knifed semi-trucks.
Thankfully, as of now, only injuries are being reported and no deaths.
A car pileup of that size is massive, but is this the biggest car pileup to ever happen in Michigan?
Turns out that while today's pileup was big, Michigan actually experienced it's biggest car pileup back in 2015.
Michigan's Worst Car Pileup
On January 9, 2015 a massive 193 vehicle pileup happened on I-94 near Galesburg.
A Canadian truck driver was killed in the pileup, while 22 others were hospitalized with dozens of others lucky to be alive.

I-94 was shut down for about two days as work was done to clear out and remove the damaged vehicles.
One thing that most people will remember about this pile up is that one of the vehicles was a semi truck that was carrying fireworks.
That truck ended up catching on fire and shooting off all of the fireworks.
Hopefully Mother Nature will calm down and this will be the last major car pile up on Michigan roadways for a long time.
