Mom’s “Creative” Punishment

One mom's approach to punishing her child has caused a lot of buzz around the country with most parents standing in her corner for her creative idea on keeping her kid in line!

She said to her 13 year old son:

"If you want to be treated like an adult, you have to start acting like one."

Aaron, the mom's son, came home one day after school and said he had no homework (as most kids have done now and again). He walked into his mom's room later that night asking for colored pencils so he could finish a project for school.

This sparked her idea to get creative. She took away almost everything he had including his computer and TV. He began to lip off and state that "You can't control me" and he went on to remind her that he was the only one bringing in some sort of money as the mother was out of work due to health issues.

That is when the straw broke the camel's back - the mom replied to these reactions

She wrote a note and gave it to her son that included a list of things she would make him pay for like rent, electricity, internet and food.

Shortly after reading

the note, the 13 year old apologized over and over again realizing that the mom is the rule maker and he should respect and listen to her.

Say what you will about certain parenting styles, but each child responds different to each tactic. The mom says to simply know your child and go with your gut instinct on what you think your child would respond best to. That's all you really can do.
