Moving Out: The Areas of Grand Rapids We Don’t Want To Live In
We can all agree that generally, we LOVE living in Grand Rapids. It's a beautiful area with lots of things to do, and tons of outdoors to explore. But, even in the best of places, there's always one or two spots we just don't want to visit.
So, recently the redditors of Grand Rapids decided to dig into the places in Grand Rapids that we want to live in the least, and honestly, the list is both helpful and borderline hysterical.
Check and see if your neighborhood made the list of places we'd rather not live in Grand Rapids.
1. York Creek
If you've heard of this place, it may be from the news. York Creek has had a few less than ideal problems over the years. Reddit user Thor561 commented with "How has York Creek not come up yet?", to which several people responded with "Ask about the Gravy" and then this set of comments made me laugh:
So while you may be looking for a deal on an apartment, this may not be it.
2. Franklin and Union
While, most of the time this seems to be a pretty okay area to be in, this block seems to be specifically problematic according to users from the area.
Not sure if car crashes are a deal breaker, but if they are for you: avoid this area.
3. Black Hills
While there can always be rough spots in a neighborhood, Black Hills does have some friendly folks living there as well.
Maybe the shrimp is worth it!
4. Anywhere near Alpine and Plainview Ave
This one isn't about crime or car crashes, the unique gripe people have about living near this area is just how hard it is to get to and from.
Going to work? add extra time to fight traffic.
So if you hate spending time in the car, you may want to spend money elsewhere for your living expenses.
5. Burton Heights
Unless you're a great fighter, users say this isn't the best area to be.
Make sure you have your boxing gloves when you go to check the mail.
Bonus: All of Grand Rapids
Apparently, I wasn't the only person looking to see if my neighborhood made the list. But, it is funny to know we were all curious.
