Thousands of homes in Michigan are without power this Christmas Eve after a strong wind storm overnight.

Winds in some areas areas of the state were over 60 miles per hour.

Consumers Energy is reporting more than 82,000 customers are without power. Crews will be out restoring power throughout the next few days. Due to the extent of the damage, some areas may not get power back until Sunday.

28th Street was closed Thursday morning while crews worked to repair downed power lines and poles.

Great Lakes Energy is reporting more than 34,000 customers are without power. They say that outages will likely persist through Christmas Day.

The Geek Group at 902 Leonard NW in Grand Rapids is offering westsiders without power access to their chargers and internet access.
