Overnight work by Consumers Energy and ITC Michigan continues in communities across West Michigan, and it has been announced that another West Michigan community will be impacted next week.

In addition to the previously announced planned outage in Caledonia, folks in Wayland should now also be prepared to be without power for up to eight hours. According to a release from Consumers Energy, the outage is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, and could last until 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

The outage will affect the area around U.S. 131 south of Wayland and north of 120th Ave. Consumers Energy estimates that approximately 3,300 customers will be affected.

Postcards have been sent to customers in the affected area informing them of the outage.

If you are in the affected area, you are encouraged to sign up for alerts from Consumers Energy for the latest information on the outage and when your power should be restored.
