7 Animals You Need To Pet Immediately At The Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo
Fall is here and you have a million choices of where to take the family when it comes to fun activities. If you're looking for pumpkins and apples, you'll have no problem finding your pick in West Michigan.
I made the trip to the Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo after seeing about 85 million ads on TikTok telling me that I need to try their apple cider sundae:
(And yes, it was worth the drive just for this devine sip.)
But after you pick your apples, try the corn maze, and have a sip or three of your cider sundae, you'll probably want to grab a serotonin boost in the form of feeding some of their cutest residents.
1. Deer
Yes, you really can be a Disney princess.
While, it may seem boring to pet something you can easily find outside in your yard in most parts of Michigan, there is something extra magical about getting close to this sweet and beautiful animals.
2. Capybaras
While these are one of the two exhibits you'll come across that has a "be careful, I have sharp teeth and can bite if you're not careful" signs, they're worth the risk.
The worlds largest mammal is not only unique, but surprisingly large and honestly worth the "risk" to give a little love.
3. SO. MANY. GOATS.
Let's all admit it: goats are freaking adorable. From their weird shaped eyes, to their loud cries of joy, these little guys will fill your serotonin meter immediately.
Bonus: they have a few holes in the fence that give you a photo opportunity if you feed them, so give yourself a laugh
4. Sloths
While this is one of the only experienced that's not offered as a part of the general admission, but if you know someone who loves sloths: it's worth it.
They offer a chance to get in the cage and hold a sloth, an experience that I will eventually need to do or I'll probably explode.
5. Prairie Dogs
The second exhibit with a "be careful, we have sharp teeth" sign, but honestly another risk I happily took
These cute guys are happy to nom on grass, and honestly it's pretty cool to see them so close compared to what it's like at most other zoos.
6. Kangaroos
Another part of the "sloth experience" is getting to hold a kangaroo
While everyone dreams of being in their pouch, these cuties seem pretty happy and eager to hang out in your arms too.
7. Llamas
Not going to lie, I always thought they weren't as social as the ones at Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo, but these cuties were ready to say hi
8. Fuzzy pant chickens
Yes, they have a lot of chickens of all kinds, but these little weirdos made me almost squeal audibly in joy.
Yes, they're friendly as long as you have a cup of food. Say hi, they've got the cutest run on the entire farm.
While they're closing soon for the season, they're open every year from April until October, so you can find time most of the year to visit.
