There's something extra special about finding a unique slice of pizza, especially in West Michigan. With dozens of options available throughout the day, we all have our preferences... What if your new favorite slice came from a robot instead of a standard human-run pizzeria?

The first Pizza Vending Machine in West Michigan opened over the weekend in Caledonia, right in front of an Amazon facility on 68th Street. It's a unique way to get your next slice. The booth, operated by Pizza Forno, is open 24/7 to cook you a pizza to order and serve it to you without a single human involved.

I've tried one of these before in Las Vegas, but never thought I'd see one here in Michigan, so naturally I got pretty excited the second I heard about it. Although, there has been a pizza vending machine in nearby Jackson for a few years. I grabbed my buddy Joe to find out if pizza made by a robot could stack up against the real deal.

The pizza runs around $11 if you get it cold, or $12 if you want it heated (okay fine, take my dollar.) and takes around 3-4 minutes to cook. It smells great the entire time, and if the weather is nice, it's not bad to get the entire process knocked out before you show up. They say in the future there will be an app so you can order ahead.

To be honest, with the price being $12 after taxes, it's a little steep for a pizza that basically tastes like a less saucy Little Ceasers. However, it's quick- it's open 24/7, and they never mess up your order, so I see the appeal of this strange vending machine gimmick.

Is it life-changing? Not really. Should you drive 40 minutes round trip to try it like we did? Maybe not. But- is it fun to try once? (Especially if you have kids) Absolutely.

Is it worth the money? Maybe if you're nearby and want to do something fun. But otherwise, I'll stick to my personal local favorites Vito's and Martha's Pizza.
