Remember a time when our cell phones weren't so distracting? It did the basics: make phone calls, text messages, and it had a simple game or two. Now we can do anything and everything with our phones. Text, check Facebook, check our e-mails, play a multitude of games, pay bills, etc. The list goes on and on which is no wonder why the distraction of our phones have affected the quality of sleep we get at night.

When you're in bed, getting ready to fall asleep, do you usually play with your phone? Most of us would say yes. Huffington Post put together a list of 11 activities to do before bed instead of checking your cell phone.

It's time to unplug and unwind! These are some of the best ideseas on the list:

  • Read a Book

Not only is reading good for the mind but it usually helps put me to sleep pretty quickly. Not to mention, when you find a really good book it takes away time from things like your phone and other forms of technology.

  • Take a Warm Bath or Shower

Personally, this is one of my FAVORITE things to do. I take a warm bath at least 2-3/week. It is very relaxing and according to Huffington Post, the heat or steam brings up your body temperature and once you get out it goes back down which helps put you to sleep quicker. I recommend adding Epsom salt to your bath... double the relaxation!
BONUS: Read a book while taking a bath!

  • Meditate

Breathing in and out can be a good way to find sleep.

Studies suggest meditation can help people relax and get a better night's rest."

  • Have Sex

Well not only will this be fun but sex released oxytocin in the brain which is the "feel-good" hormone. It decreases stress and thus makes you feel more relaxed. Besides, who doesn't want to go to bed happy?

  • Drink Tea

Drinking something warm will make you feel relaxed and comfy. Make sure there's no caffeine in your tea or it'll do the complete opposite! If you really have trouble falling asleep I recommend chamomile tea.

  • Listen to Music

Obviously don't blast music that you'd hear a nightclub but something soft and relaxing.

  • Do a Craft

Crafting has a wide range of possibilities. Sometimes, I like to color before bed because it keeps me focused and relaxed. With adult coloring books on the rise, this is a great activity to pass the time or do something before bed. And you can have a masterpiece at the end:
