The War and Treaty Reflect on Their Journey at a Sold-Out Grand Rapids Concert
It may have been a hometown show, but the War and Treaty’s latest Michigan show felt more like a homecoming.
On Friday, March 28th at St. Cecilia Music Center in downtown Grand Rapids was packed with fans ready to witness the powerhouse ‘hometown’ duo The War and Treaty. They delivered their signature blend of gospel, soul, and classic country and filled the halls with clapping, dancing, and a joyous uproar of music.

Opening the night was rising artist Tiera Kennedy, who shared the story of how being a part of Cowboy Carter (almost a year to the day of the album's release) changed the rest of her career.
Tiera’s incredible voice and talented songwriting set the tone for an evening filled with raw emotion and soaring vocals. But it was Michael and Tanya Trotter who truly took the audience on a journey for almost two hours, and it was one that felt as much like a spiritual revival as it did a Friday night concert.
The couple also wasn't afraid to share their love with the audience:
The show was especially meaningful for the couple, who shared an emotional moment reflecting on their last performance at the exact same venue back in 2019, when they didn’t sell out the room.
To return years later to a packed house in their home state, with cheers erupting from friends and fans (including many from their hometown of Albion, Michigan) it truly was a powerful full-circle moment. “This means everything to us,” they told the crowd, and their gratitude was evident in every note they sang throughout the evening.
By the end of the night, the entire audience was on their feet, swept up in the duo’s electrifying energy. Seeing the War and Treaty isn’t just attending a musical performance. It’s a moment of spiritual cleansing, with their heartfelt lyrics and powerhouse harmonies leading the way. The War and Treaty didn’t just put on a show, they brought us all to church.
Fresh off their performance earlier that month at the Opry 100th Anniversary, It was a night of Country Music that Grand Rapids won’t soon forget, proving once again why this duo is one of the most captivating acts in country music today.
