TEXT QUESTION OF THE DAY:
What’s the coolest thing you have ever gotten free and how did you get it free?

  • Connie & Fish gave away 4 tickets to a waterpark in the Dells. I made it a girls weekend with my daughters and mom while the men hunted for opening weekend. That was like 10 years ago and they still talk about how fun that trip was.
  • This Shark steamer mop! Found it at a garage sale in hillbilly County and said I only had $2 on me and it was labeled for $5. They just said to take it as they were packing up their sale. $60 value!
  • The t-shirt off Iggy Pop's body. I was in 11th grade in high school and he was playing at a local venue in the Detroit area in 1980. I worked my way to the front of the stage, saw an opportunity, and jumped up on stage and danced with Iggy! I was up there for several minutes, he took his shirt off and tossed it to me, then the bouncers escorted me offstage and to the back of the room (but i worked my way up front again for the rest of the show ). I got to tell Iggy that story when I checked him in to the hotel where I was working in Boston about a decade later (see also my free concert tickets to Robert Plant story)...he was amused. I still have that t-shirt
  • Concert tickets to see Robert Plant in his Manic Nirvana tour many years ago. I also got backstage passes for me and my friends to meet him but we showed up a little too late to meet him (I still have my autographed backstage pass ). I got the tickets because he was staying at the hotel (in Boston) where I worked the front desk. He stayed about a week and his tour manager kept coming to the desk throughout that time for assistance (back in about 1990 before computers and cellphones...I sent faxes out for him). So he offered me tickets for me and several friends as thanks. It didn't matter that we didn't get to meet him that night, because a couple nights later his manager wanted a recommendation for a dive bar where Robert could go and just be regular without being recognized...and I knew the perfect place, so they invited me to go with them, just me, tour manager, Robert and one of Robert's friends! Super nice people

  • My friends & I went to a One Direction concert, we purchased tickets for nose bleeds seats but when we got there our seats ended up getting upgraded to floor seats next to the stage for free due to a promotion from Nabisco who was sponsoring the concert! It was the best day ever!
  • Went to Ozz Fest many, many moons ago when DTE was named Pine Knob and just had lawn seats and when it came time for Ozzy, we found tickets for 5th row seats in the seating area on the ground by a garbage can! Talk about a score!

  • 2 pair of shoes for my son with Cerebral palsy. Several years ago this happened when my son was a baby. My Birthday is a few days before Christmas, happened to be right before I got paid. Went into payless at Grandville mall to look at shoes for my son. He needs 2 different sizes because of leg braces because he has CP. I found what I wanted with the help of the workers. I also about 7 yrs ago won a Facebook contest and got not 1 but 2 free GE alliances of my choice shipped to me. I had gotten a stand up freezer and a huge fridge w/ bottom freezer. Stainless steel. It was a huge blessing for me and my 2 sons because my fridge had broke and took all my food and meat with it. It all spoiled. After my then mother-in-law picked me up and we were on the way to her house I got a call from another owner checking on me and expressing his sympathies for what happened. He then asked me to meet him at a local car lot. I thought maybe he wanted to help me out with a down payment on a replacement car or something.
