TEXT QUESTION OF THE DAY:
What’s the worst physical pain you have ever been in?

  • Tqotd- the worst pain I've ever felt is when I broke both my pinky toes while drunk waaaaayyyy back in the day. Trying to walk with swollen feet and broken toes sucks!
  • My worst pain was after an emergency c-section and two epidurals--a spinal headache! And because I was on coumadin, I just had to wait it out
  • I promise this is true: I didn't poop for 4 weeks.
  • I finally crawled into the doctor's office. He looked at my abdominal x-ray, his eyes opened super wide, and he immediately sent me to the hospital!
  • I tripped going up the steps into my parent's house. My arm hit the house as I tried to catch myself and I broke my shoulder. Sheered the bone right off. I now have 3 screws permanently in my shoulder. They look like deck screws in the xray.
  • know a lot of these answers are going to be child birth experiences which beyond a doubt if painful but personally for me the most awful pain I have ever experienced has been the poop that occurred after my c section with my second daughter. Now no one really tells you about the massive constipation that occurs after a c section surgery, but it lasted well over a week and I was told as long as I was farting the bowels were doing their thing and it will eventually come. 9 LONG DAYS LATER IT FINALLY CAME It was the most pain I have ever experienced I cursed the heavens, prayed, bargained, and pleaded for that poop to leave me for good. Eventually it did but not without completely scarring me in the process. No amount of laxative or prep talk could have prepared me for that experience.
  • TQOTD: I'm totally team Connie with throwing out my back! I did it 2 weeks ago and it took over a week before I was feeling better. Easter was the worst day because on top of it already being extremely painful, I was having random spasms every time I tried to move. I was in tears all day
  • The worst pain I've had was getting a dry socket after having a wisdom tooth pulled.
  • The worst physical pain was when I had my appendix removed. It was an experience I'll never volunteer for again. Absolutely no pain medication!! OUCH!!!, n oh hell no!!! Experimental surgery. My advice...DO NOT VOLUNTEER for it, EVER. It was pure hell!!!
  • TQOTD: about 12 hours after my shoulder surgery (on a torn labrum) and the numbing wore off. The meds they gave me didn't touch the pain and my mom, who was taking care of me, wouldn't let me take more. What the frog. Worst pain ever.
  • My now ex husband is a golf freak. We were in a sporting goods store and he was hitting golf balls into a screen. He hit my hand full force and broke all the bones except my thumb. I had to have surgery and have my hand pinned back together.
  • The worst physical pain I've been through was battling endometriosis. EXTREMELY long story short: I was in extreme pain for a couple of years, until one day I had an endometrioma burst and I waited in the ER in AGONY for three+ hours before being seen. After an ultrasound, they finally realized I wasn't lying about my pain, loaded me with pain meds, and they had me in the operating room soon after. My abdomen was completely filled with blood, massive surgery was done, was told I may never have kids, and the recovery was aweful, as was the subsequent journey of the battle with endometriosis and the 7 major surgeries that followed. On the bright side: I was miraculously able to have one kiddo!!!!!! I would never, ever, ever wish the years of pain I endured to ANYONE!!!!!
  • The worst pain I've ever felt is a toss up between childbirth w/out pain meds and the divorce of my soul mate. Stay healthy!
  • A lot of people might not say this is physical pain but I felt physically pain when my older brother tragically passed away at 29 years old and it wasn’t a natural death. This is ham samich from Muskegon.
  • After years of abuse of my left ankle, I had to have a partial reconstruction with a plate and a few screws. Surgery went great, recovery was as ok as it could be. Then I went back to work and physical therapy and may have been cheating and not using my leg scooter as I should’ve. One Friday afternoon (about 3 months post surgery) I noticed a lump forming near the incision site and the pain gradually got worse and worse until it was blinding. Got into the doctor Monday morning. I broke two screws right in the center. Then had to wait 2 more weeks to have surgery to get them out. Morale of the story? Listen to your surgeon and stay off your feet.
  • Labor... I tried so hard to get through it without an epidural but I caved. I had back labor and could still feel it with the epidural until my wonderful husband heated up my corn bag for me.... if I had only known I had just two more hours to go before meeting my beautiful daughter I may have been able to do it. ‍♀️
  • ACL surgery. The recovery was way worse than the actual injury. My c-section didn’t even come close to comparing.
  • I was going in for an emergency cesarean. The doctor was in such a rush, he didn't make sure that I was properly numb. So, he cut and I screamed. He cut again and of course I screamed again. After the second scream, they put me under general.
  • The worst physical pain I have ever been in was when I fell while riding my mountain bike on the trail and ended up tearing a whole bunch of tendons in my shoulder!
  • Pain from Crohn’s disease. Literal gut wrenching pain that has you doubled over. Pain meds barely touch the pain. Imagine the movie alien and how bad that would feel in real life. Way worse than labor.
  • Besides labor, the worst pain was tendonitis in my shoulder a few weeks ago. It was a 10 out of 10 in pain. The worst ever
  • Lost my finger in a card game.. Just kidding it was an inversion table accident in September of 2019
  • Pain from rheumatoid arthritis and crohn's, if they are both flaring on the same day no pain meds help, being balled up doesnt help. Labor pain was bearable to these disease. But I look normal :(
  • Went tubing down the river all day without sunscreen on my legs .....ended up with extreme burns on the front of my legs....could barely walk or get out of bed for the first 3 or 4 days, the pain was excruciating!
  • Recovering from ACL surgery. Tore it freshman year of high school and didn’t realize it (thought it was a sprain). By senior year I was in a lot more pain and found out it had completely torn in half. Surgery recovery hurt worse than the torn ACL.
  • Putting in a new bracket for my flag, used a bar stool to reach it and fell on to my driveway..shattering my wrist. Some of the bones broke, some disintegrated. I've had kids, surgeries, been in accidents. This was the worst pain.
  • Trying to save my husband's life while he suffered a heart attack, I failed he passed away right before my eyes
  • Shattering my elbow. That wasn't the painful part, It was after surgery every time I moved. Also when they put me in the X ray machine they strapped me down without enough pain med and it felt like they were killing me.
  • My back went out on my about 21 yrs ago. Ended up on the couch for a week. Only got off the couch to use the bathroom and it took everything in me to get off the couch and shuffle my way to the bathroom and back. My doctor only told me to take Motrin. Worst pain I have ever been in!
  • At work my foot slipped on the carpet due to crappy shoes and I slammed the top of my foot into the bottom corner of wooden desk drawer. Instantly brought tears to my eyes and so much pain pulsing throughout my foot. Pretty sure I did some nerve damage
  • Dislocating my rib from a horrible cold/cough last Spring. Worst pain I have ever had. And I have had both a c-section and broke my leg in the last 5 years. I would redo either of those in lieu of dislocating a rib again.
  • Labor with my first and second babies but then having all 3 by C-Section. My last two babies were 13 months apart! The best physical pain ever though! ❤️
  • Ruptured disc pressing on my sciatic nerve for 8 mos before they finally let me have surgery. Worst pain of my life!!! Have some permanent nerve damage in leg and foot.
  • I have to say, I’ve had both gallstones (doctor took my gallbladder out and said it felt like a bean bag) and kidney stones. I have had labor with a “normal” delivery and a c-section that nearly killed me. But by far, the worst pain I have ever physically been in was the kidney stones. All that pain and nothing to show for it. I always say, “at least at the end of labor and delivery there is a baby.”
  • Weight loss surgery but very worth it. Cholesterol is improving and I'm down 75 lbs!
  • Anybody ever use this solution incorrectly?!? Felt like acid on my eyeball, I've never screamed so hard in my life.
  • Separated cartilage from my ribs twice taking care of my severely disabled son. Worst pain of my life. Worse than childbirth, reconstructive knee sugeries, anything. I wanted to die with every breath I took.
  • Labor and the pain while trying to give me my epidural! That was the day I found out I had minor scoliosis. Terrible time to figure that out!
  • Natural child birth.... that was not the plan! Having a baby on the 4th of July is a bad idea.... 1 anesthesiologist on duty and I was not high on the list of being important. I wanted all the drugs... that was my birth plan. Whatever, I got one hell of a firecracker that day, but damn! ‍♀️♥️
  • Pyloplasty. Its a surgery where they cut a chunk out of your ureter (connects your kidney to your bladder) then they pull and reattach the shortened ureter to your kidney and pray it works. Had to have it because I suffered from Hydronephrosis from a chunk of my ureter randomly dying.
  • I was stabbed with falling kitchen shears. They went through my foot and stuck into the floor. I thought I would die... I was only a kid then, but I just remembering thinking they would have to kill me before removing them from my foot....
  • Ruptured appendix! I’ve had kids, gall stones and many surgeries and my God, the pain when and after it ruptured was utterly indescribable.
  • Let's see it's a toss up between my weight loss surgery, 2 c-sections or 5 hernia surgeries. What am I thinking... they were ALL horrible!
  • Emergency gallbladder surgery... but I had jaundice and my gallbladder was attached to the side of my liver instead of hanging at the bottom. Ouch!
  • Natural labor and a torn rotator cuff
  • Giving birth without drugs, twice. Worth it though! I'd do it again!
  • 3 kids.. 8lbs 7oz, 10lbs 2oz and 11lbs 5oz (yes eleven!)..i have never had a c-section. The 11 pounder also would head butt me straight down towards the end of the pregnancy. That almost brought me to my knees a few times.
  • I dislocated my knee wrestling in high school. I wrestled 5 more min on it and almost teched the kid. After I got off the mat I hurt so bad.
  • Kidney stones. Much worse than giving birth, and I had 5 kids! Even worse than my knee being bone-on-bone prior to my knee replacement. Worse than my migraines.
  • After my daughter was born I started drinking LOTS of energy drinks... specifically the white monsters... I developed a few ulcers.. worst pain in the world! I wouldn't wish it upon anybody. Would rather go through labor pains again.
  • Its a toss up between blowing my left knee out last summer and years ago when I nearly tore my rotor cuff. Neither joint has been the same since....
  • I would say it's either between after I get my nerve block surgeries or when I had a sliver under my thumbnail
  • Just recently scratched my cornea it was worse than labor
  • Appendicitis for sure. Hours of unrelenting horrific stomach pains...couldn’t walk or stand
  • It's a toss up between an ovarian cyst rupture and my L5 vertebrae rupture. Just happy I didn't need surgery.
  • Back pain. A chipped disk. Gallstones a very close second.
  • Broken shoulder. Sheared the bone right off. Now I have 3 screws in my upper arm/shoulder area.
  • Hands down kidney stone... worse than labor...
  • Expanders after double mastectomy prior to the placement of my permanent implants. Just one of the many things that they don't tell you about. But I am a 4 1/2 years cancer survivor , so it was worth it.
  • Playing badminton in H.S. landed hard and rolled my ankle on gym floor
  • Childbirth. I now measure every episode of pain by that measuring stick. Does this hurt as bad as labor? No? Well, then, I can handle this.
  • Fell and broke my ankle in four places. Worst pain ever, and I've birthed four kids, and had several kidney stones.
  • Right now my left elbow is killing me! Broke it in four places when I was younger and then a month it popped loudly and has been killing me ever since
  • Hi guys hope you’re enjoying your work from home. I unfortunately have to work overtime. I am in essential worker I have to test circuit boards for medical equipment. But I’m glad I’m helping. Yeah the absolute worst pain I’ve ever been in besides giving birth would be I have a bad tooth with a cavity had gotten to the root and there is nothing like that kind of pain
  • I can't decide between the kidney stone or my several attacks of Ischemic colitis. Kind of a toss up.
  • Worse pain ever for me....when I was blown up from a road side bomb in Iraq in Feb of 2005! Still deal with the pain today!!!
  • Worst pain ever injured my back had surgery come to find out I broke Off some pieces of my Vertebrae, Luckily happened at work so I got Paid.. Still sucked 6 months of physical therapy
  • Actually that's not true I had said earlier that getting drain tubes and having the expanders put in after I had breast cancer was the most painful thing but that's not true it has to be the three PE blood clots that I had in my right lung
  • worst pain for me was probably when i was a kid, and the spot between the garage had a 4foot drop, and we had chicknss too, so there was chicken wire keeping them back. so one day i didnt want to go with my mom to drop my brother off, so i ran between that spot and jumped down, and during that, i scraped my hip bad on the edge of the wire. nobody noticed till 20 minutes . (i mean i was crying so and i was 8 so i really didnt know what was going on) 4 stitches and it really hurt
  • Damn uterus!!! She was a pain...had to get that bioootcchhh out
  • I've given birth 3 times without meds but it wasn't nearly as bad as when I had cellulitis in my face from a mosquito bite. The pressure in my head was insane!
  • Ear surgery (stapedectomy). They used a laser, a drill, and chisel to remove bone...they have to bring you out of sedation multiple times for vertigo check, so I was awake for half of the surgery (3.5 hours). They tie your head down so you cant get away. I squirmed HARD. They also cut a vein graft out of your wrist to cover a small wire, and drill that baby back into your ear as prosthetic. The throbbing and piercing pain inside my head was unreal.
  • The worst pain ever was when I was straightening my bangs with a curling iron and the iron slipped and poked my eye...melting the mascara onto my eyeball from my eyelashes. I went to the ER and the Dr said “you shouldn’t try to curl your eyelashes with a curling iron!
  • Hi. The worst physical pain I have ever experienced in my life was when I got an unexpected, lake water, turbo-speed enema! I was skiing in a bikini, got scared and let go of the tow rope. I sat down on the water going probably 20-25 mph. I was screaming so loud most everyone on the lake heard me. My husband (boyfriend at the time) thought I had broke something, so he jumped off the jet ski into the water. He got closer and heard me screaming, "I can't stop shitting". Needless to say he swam back to the jet ski. Once the (what seemed like) endless defecation stopped, I was able to climb back on the jet ski and go back to the shore. My pooper was sore for about 2 weeks after that happened. I will NEVER ski again in my life. No way, not ever! I just want to point out that that I have had 3 cesarean sections (which includes 1 epidural and 2 spinal shots), been through basic training, took an Army PT test with a pulled groin muscle and breastfed a child with full-on mastitis (that is actually #2) and yet, this is my #1. Yep...without a doubt it was the unsolicited ass-douche of a lifetime!
