There are a few things I miss about living in Kentucky. Mainly the food and the bourbon culture. So when I saw that the Grand Rapids Whiskey Festival is coming back next month, I felt a little homesick.

As a Kentucky transplant now living in West Michigan, this event feels like someone scooped my favorite pieces of the bourbon trail and tucked them neatly inside downtown Grand Rapids. No long road trip trying your best to map out distillery stops. And the best part- No arguing over who is driving to the next tasting.

The Grand Rapids Whiskey Festival 2026 is happening Saturday, March 21 from 7 to 10 pm at DeVos Place Convention Center. And if you love whiskey even a little bit, this will be your crowd.

The whole goal of the night is to connect whiskey lovers with great whiskey while building relationships with top brands and making memories with friends. It is less about rushing, and more about discovering what you like.

You will be able to sample everything from Kentucky bourbon to rye, American, Canadian, Irish, Scotch, blended, and even Japanese whisky. Which will give you a world tour through fermented grain. And that beautiful amber spirit really does have range. Some pours are smoky and earthy. Others are bold and spicy. Some are meant to sip neat. Others shine in a cocktail. Half the fun is figuring out what surprises you.

There are three ticket options. A designated driver ticket is $20 for anyone attending but not drinking. General admission is $49. VIP tickets are $69 and get you in an hour early (which any whiskey fan will tell you is a very strategic move.)

After a long Michigan winter, gathering in one room with people who appreciate a good pour feels like exactly what we need. And if you are someone who has always wanted to experience a little slice of the bourbon trail without leaving West Michigan, this is about as close as it gets.

Historic Detroit Home Served as a Whiskey Still During Prohibition

This historic Detroit home was built in 1920, the same year prohibition began in the United States.

We've included pictures of the main house, the fully renovated carriage house, and the home theater built in one of the three walk-in bank-style safes.
