Wood TV Welcomes George Smith To News 8 Daybreak
If you turned on your TV this morning to catch some local news you might have noticed a news face.
Starting today George Smith joined the News 8 Daybreak team alongside Teresa Weakley on the anchor desk weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m.
Wood TV Welcomes George Smith To News 8 Daybreak
Smith was first introduced Friday morning during a Football Frenzy Tailgate at Plainwell High School.
Smith fills the vacant anchor spot left after Donovan Long exited Wood TV after 5 years at the station.

News 8 News Director Brad Kessie had this to say about the Smith joining the team.
“George Smith’s 20+ year career in broadcast journalism includes stops at ESPN, Chicago, Cleveland, and Madison, Wisconsin. He can anchor from the desk. He can anchor from the field. I believe George will complement what Teresa, Matt Kirkwood, Tom Hillen and the Daybreak team have already built."
