Beloved WOOD TV Personality Elisa Alonso Announces Departure
West Michigan has seen a lot of talented men and women who work on local TV news say goodbye.

Some have moved on to other TV jobs in bigger markets, a select few got to retire on their own terms after calling West Michigan home for many years, and others step away for their own personal reasons.

A familiar face on eightWest and WOOD TV8 recently shared that she will soon be saying goodbye to West Michigan.
Elisia Alonso shared on her Facebook Page why she is leaving eightWest and WOOD TV8:
Grief & Gratitude 💜
This year my family learned that both can coexist. After many months of long-distance marriage and parenting, a new medical diagnosis for my son, endless therapies, work restraints and a lot of support - our endurance has run out.
The time has come for my family’s reunion, which means saying goodbye to West Michigan and eightWest. I’m so thankful for the people I’ve met, the privilege to share their stories, and the opportunity to live out my journalistic dream here at WOOD TV8.
I’ll be here for two more months before venturing full-time into my most important work yet - motherhood!
Stay West,
Elisia
