Grand Rapids Community College has announced a partnership with Gun Lake Casino to begin a Blackjack Dealer Academy this fall.

The program was born after Gun Lake Casino reached out to Grand Rapids Community College Workforce Training to help fill the demand for blackjack dealers.

Students who complete Blackjack Dealer Academy training will receive a certification and be interviewed by Gun Lake Casino for a job. Most openings are second shift and third shift. Average wages are $18 to $22 per hour including tips.

Students must be 21 and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

The academy will meet twice per week for just over one month. Classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. or Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The academy begins in October.

Gun Lake Casino is covering most of the cost of the academy. Cost to students is $25.
