Grand Rapids’ Self-Proclaimed “Third Best Hot Dog” Is a Must-Try
You may not be aware if you don't leave West Michigan often, but we have one of the best local food scenes in the universe.
And while I can write for days about all of my recommendations to get the best tacos, coffees, ice cream and pizza, I become borderline speechless when it comes to trying to explain why I love One Stop Coney so much.
Maybe it's their tongue in cheek way of referring to themselves as the "Third best Hot Dog" in Grand Rapids (which, is a downright lie)
Or maybe it's the hilarious way their social media posts read, down to the adorable "love you" at the end that makes you feel like you're a part of a small community who loves amazing food
Or honestly, it could be because their "creations" are absolutely mind blowing, making fried fast food into a delicacy of nonsense.
But whatever it is, I'm obsessed. I've told everyone within ear shot of why they need a Korean corndog (Which I'm usually met with a stare of disbelief, but no one has ever told me I was wrong once they dug in)
Their menu has something for the less adventerous too, but to be honest: following their specials has become an obsession in my household. Right now, they currently have the "The Chippy Dippy" as their special, which is a hotdog that was dreamed up by one of the owners during her pregnancy. It comes with wavy chips, house dill chip dip, and fresh dill on top. And, it's even better when you taste it for yourself.
Did I mention they have Vernors on tap? THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
Also, what good hot dog exists without a great sauce? And from fries to corndogs, they've got a rotating selection of sauces that you won't find anywhere else in town.
So while they may call themselves the "third best hot dog", I swear I'd take a bullet to prove they're number one. (okay, fine. Maybe I'd just eat enough of those incredible fried bologna sandwiches to keep them open.)
Don't believe me? Visit them yourself. And before you go, follow their instagram so you can drool over their seasonal specials.
