The woman called the police department to try and get help.
By the time help arrived to try and rescue the dog it was already an estimated 350 yards out on the ice, that's the length of 3 football fields!
Rescuers tried to use a drone in an attempt to have the dog go towards the shore, but instead it went farther out on the thin ice.
The Fire Department was able to get on the ice but had to quickly change plans when they determined that it was too thin for them to safely walk on.
That's when they brought in an airboat to get the job done.

The dog was rescued and is doing fine.
Hopefully the dogs owners will fix the hole in there fence that allowed the dog to get out in the first place.
If you ever find yourself in a similar situation whether it is your dog or someone else's here is what you should do.
- First call 911 so the fire department can be alerted.
- Stay off the ice and out of the water; it’s too dangerous for you to be in.
- Keep an eye on the dog so when help arrives they will know where to go.
