Michigan Man Wins Lottery Jackpot Twice In Just Over A Year

The good people at Investopedia crunched the numbers and came up with the odds for some of the two biggest lottery games in America, Powerball and Mega Millions..

For Powerball the odds of winning the jackpot (matching all five numbers plus the Powerball) are approximately 1 in 292.2 million.

And for Mega Millions the odds of winning the jackpot (matching all five numbers plus the Mega Ball) are approximately 1 in 302.5 million

Those odds seem terrible when you compare them like the chance of death or injury from a lighting strike is 1 in 186,978.

Or that there's a 1 in 46,744 chance of dying from a hornet, wasp, or bee sting during your lifetime.

Despite these incredible odds, a Michigan man has won the lottery for a second time, just over a year after his first win.

Kelly Ralston of Mt. Pleasant matched all five Fantasy 5 numbers on April 30, 2024.

He took his winnings to buy a camper, helped out his family and did some work to his house.

Then just over a year later on May 10th, he won again by matching the Fantasy 5 Double Play numbers that made him $110,000 richer

He shared with the Michigan Lottery about how he never thought he would win again.

I’ve continued to play Fantasy 5 since I won last year, but I never thought I would win big a second time. The morning after the drawing, I scanned my Fantasy 5 ticket on the Lottery app and was stunned when $110,000 came up on the screen. I still can’t believe I won again!

So what is he going to do with his lottery winnings the second time around?

Kelly says he plans to save his winnings for retirement and live comfortably.
