New Nicklaus Golf Course in Grand Haven
Heard some really good news from Jack Nicklaus himself while watching his Memorial Golf Tournament from Dublin, Ohio on the Golf Channel.
A new golf course called "American Dunes" designed by Jack Nicklaus is coming to Grand Haven. According to their website Jack is leading a noble mission with his trusted wingman Lt. Col. Dan Rooney and their call sign is "American Dunes" You notice their logo is the Golden Bear in Red, White and Blue colors.
What's different about American Dunes? 100% of the profit every year will go to the Folds of Honor Association.
Jack Nicklaus is quoted: "I love the game of golf, but I love my country even more". And according to Lt. Col Dan Rooney, one of the founders of The Folds of Honor Foundation, their goal is to create safe haven for Veterans and to ensure no family is left behind on the field of battle.
Folds of Honor Foundation helps by providing money for educational scholarships to spouses and children to disabled or fallen U.S. service members.
American Dunes will be designed as a fun place to play for Amateurs and is just 1/2 mile off Lake Michigan. Jack Nicklaus took out a lot of the pine trees for a "Links" design and to create vista views. He let the land and the sands determine the layout. No doubt will rival another course on the Lake called Whistling Straits in Kohler, WI. That has featured major golf championships. That would be great to see in the future for American Dunes and you know with Jack behind it and their mission that will happen. Which will be so good for the West Michigan economy.
Besides the golf course there is building called "The Camp" with 16 staterooms that honor the branches of the United States Armed Forces. Below "The Camp" is "The Bunker" that will feature cold-beer, pool and more.
American Dunes will also available to book weddings or banquets - they are now taking reservations for Winter and Spring of 2021.
Merchandise is available now at the golf course or on-line at www.americandunesgolfclub.com New golf bags just came in this week as featured on their Facebook page.
This is a golf course I'm really looking forward to playing when it opens.
