So What Caused The Power Outage In Downtown Grand Rapids and Along The West Side?
So what happened Saturday night that caused power to go out to most of Downtown and West Side Grand Rapids?
According to WZZM13, the reason the lights went out was because of an equipment failure at the Wealthy Street Substation.
The power outage affected around 8,000 people during the last weekend of ArtPrize 9, Pulaski Days’ and more. Both GRPD and Kent County Sherrif’s Department spent much of Saturday afternoon directing traffic and pedestrians around downtown.
WZZM13 reports crews had the power restored around 6:10p Saturday night.
