Deadline For West Michigan Families To Sign Up For Toys For Tots Soon

While your halloween decorations are still up and the kiddos still haven't said trick or treat or collected their candy, it's already time for some people to be looking ahead to Christmas.

No, you don't have to pull down your tree yet. (Although I know enough people will come November 1st) But if you or a family you know is worried about how you're going to get presents under the tree for Christmas 2023, West Michigan's Toys for Tots is here to save the day.

Started in 1947, Toys For Tots was the brain child of Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks who wanted to make sure kids across America didn't have to feel the heartbreak of finding nothing under the tree on Christmas morning.

Since then his movement has spread all over the United States, including to here in West Michigan, where they had an all time record amount of people apply to receive their help last year.

If you’re planning to apply to receive Toys for Tots for your children this holiday season registration is already open, so you can go ahead and sign up. And if you aren't in need, but know someone who is- encourage them to get on the list sooner rather than later so the organization knows who to help.

The process has been simplified and all you have to do is visit Toysfortots.org, select your state and then your county, and then fill out the form.

Families interested in participating have until December 1st to apply, so don't miss out. We'd hate to see anyone miss out on their chance to have a very Merry Christmas.
