Michigan is a great place to live as long as you don't mind crazy weather that can change in an instant, and you don't mind seeing orange construction barrels that never go away.

One Michigan woman should be thankful for those construction barrels because they're the reason why she just won a life-changing amount of money.

The 70-year-old woman from St. Clair County chose to remain anonymous but did share with the Michigan Lottery how she came to buy the winning ticket.

“I play King Cashword all the time, Almost every day I walk to the store down the road to get a King Cashword ticket, but this particular day it was too hot to go for a walk, so I decided to drive instead. There was a lot of construction going on near the store that made it hard to get to, so I ended up going to a different store in the area that I’d never been to.

“Later that night, I scratched the ticket and couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I saw the $1 million prize. I called my son and he told me to sit down because he thought I was going to have a heart attack! I had to go to the store to scan my ticket because I needed to see proof that this was real. Winning is amazing and life changing.”

This lucky winner isn't the only person to win big playing the Michigan Lottery.

A man visiting Michigan from Maryland recently won $1,000,000 playing a Lucky Numbers instant win ticket.

A Bay County woman who had been playing Lotto 47 for 20 years with the same numbers hit it big and won $1.1 million.

And an Oakland County woman playing Fantasy 5 online accidentally selected a wrong number that resulted in her winning $250,000.
