The question everyone is asking, is there and end in sight for road construction in West Michigan?

Construction season in Grand Rapids seems to be taking forever this year to complete and while some projects are wrapping up, others may carry over until next spring.

WOOD-TV8's "Traffic Tom" Hillen reports that there is a silver lining - we do have a couple of areas that are wrapping up construction. One is this Saturday at 6 p.m. when westbound Fulton Street will reopen. The other is September 30 for the project along I-196 in Ottawa County.

Unfortunately, a new round of lane closures will kick off Thursday that include westbound I-196 with a single lane closure from 44th to M-6. The ramp on westbound I-196 to eastbound M-6 will close for two weeks. There will also be lane closures in both directions of M-6 from I-196 to 8th Ave that will last until the end of September.

The area along eastbound I-196 and I-96 at the East Beltline will have construction work through the fall.

From the looks of things, next spring will not be any fun either as many projects will not end this fall and carry over into 2020.
