Michigan Man Buys Extra Tickets, Wins Big Jackpot

A Kent County man who regularly plays the lottery decided to buy a couple of extra tickets since the Jackpot drawing was bigger than usual.

That decision ended up making him half a million dollars richer, and put him one giant step closer to retirement.

The 63-year-old man who chose to remain anonymous shared with the Michigan Lottery that he plays the Fantasy 5 regularly and usually buys just one ticket.

But because the jackpot drawing was so high, he decided to buy a few extra tickets.

Although the winner’s name is unknown, we do know where he bought the ticket.

It was purchased at the Alpine E-Z Mart, located at 3623 Alpine Avenue Northwest in Comstock Park.

He told the Michigan Lottery what went through his mind when he realized he was the big winner.

“The day after the drawing, I saw the jackpot was won and saw the winning ticket was purchased at the same store where I purchased mine. I got my tickets out of my car to check them and was blown away when I saw I was the winner!”

The lucky winner matched the Fantasy 5 numbers in the Sept. 18 drawing to win the big prize: 02-21-29-36-38.

There have been several big Michigan Lottery wins over the past couple of months.

About a month ago, a Michigan woman won $1,000,000 after buying a ticket at the grocery store.

Another woman won big with the lottery after her favorite game was sold out, so she played a different one instead.
