For me it was getting a Sega Genesis system that included Sonic.

A 66 year old man from Saginaw County got a birthday present from his sister and it ended up making him $500,000 richer.

The man who chose to remain anonymous won playing a Money Rush instant win ticket from the Michigan Lottery.

He recently went to Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing to cash in his ticket and shared how it happened.

“My family’s Easter party happened to be on my birthday this year, so at the party, my sister gave me a lottery ticket as a birthday gift. On my way home, I stopped at the store, scratched the barcode, and scanned the ticket. I got a message to file a claim at the Lottery office, so I scratched the ticket when I got home to see what I’d won.

“I was so shocked and excited when I saw the $500,000 win! I called my sister to tell her the news, and she was just as excited as I was.”

This lucky man from Saginaw County isn't the only person to win big playing the Michigan Lottery.

A man visiting Michigan from Maryland recently won $1,000,000 playing a Lucky Numbers instant win ticket.

A Bay County woman who had been playing Lotto 47 for 20 years with the same numbers hit it big and won $1.1 million.

And an Oakland County woman playing Fantasy 5 online accidentally selected a wrong number that resulted in her winning $250,000.
