Before you go hunting for the date this story was published: no, you're not late if you're finding this on Friday, January 20, 2023.

And maybe that's the exact line of thought comedian Nikki Glaser had during her first night performing at the Kalamazoo State Theatre.

After opening her first of two nights in Kalamazoo by singing Taylor Swift songs with her best friend and opener, Musician Anya Marina, she took to the stage to say hello to the eager folks of Kalamazoo who came to see her.

But she spared no time getting to the punches she's famous for, immediately starting to make fun of the fact that she was even in Kalamazoo to start.

What did Nikki Glaser say about Kalamazoo's Christmas lights?

When Comedian Nikki Glaser took the stage on Thursday, January 19th, she made a joke about how "depressing" Kalamazoo must be.

Wait why? Well, because according to her, since their Christmas lights were still up. "You must be really sad if you need to keep your Christmas lights up this late into the year"

Yes, I took this photo as I left the State Theatre, so she's right... they are still around.

Now listen Nikki, we love you and how you never hold back your punches: but life in Michigan is TOUGH this time of year. It's cold, snowy, and the sun goes into retirement until April. So, maybe we need the extra twinkle to have some form of joy.

She also mentioned in her set that she had been to the theatre in 2010, but that she didn't remember because it was "before she quit drinking". Maybe we just need to give her a tour of what makes Kalamazoo special... She hasn't really gotten the best side of the city!

At least she offers a great mocktail if you do go to see her second night at KST, we appreciate a queen who doesn't drink.

But we can be honest with ourselves...maybe she does have a small point about the lights still being up, because it's practically Valentine's day... Sorry Nikki, we'll work on it.
