A lot of times for me that's not the case but for a Michigan man his decision to buy several scratch off tickets ended up making him an instant millionaire.

The 48-year old man who's from Oakland County had decided to remain anonymous, but did share some details with the Michigan Lottery on how this big win happened.

The man bought the winning lottery ticket at Main Street Convenience, located at 402 South Main Street in Ann Arbor.

“I stopped at the store and bought three lottery tickets. I didn’t win anything on the first two tickets, then I scratched the third ticket and was in total disbelief when I saw I’d won $1 million!

“I feel so blessed to win a prize like this. It’s going to give our family a sense of financial security and will allow us to give our kids a better future."

The man went with the cash option and walked away with $693,000.

This lucky man isn't the only person to win big playing the Michigan Lottery.

A man visiting Michigan from Maryland recently won $1,000,000 playing a Lucky Numbers instant win ticket.

A Bay County woman who had been playing Lotto 47 for 20 years with the same numbers hit it big and won $1.1 million.

And an Oakland County woman playing Fantasy 5 online accidentally selected a wrong number that resulted in her winning $250,000.
