Michigan and Scuba Diving, I never really connected the two, until I met up with Mike and Mark at American Dive Zone in Kentwood. It's a totally different world...

Let me start out by saying, anyone who knows me knows that I don't get too far out of my comfort zone. So to even be talking about Scuba Diving is a stretch for me, it just never really crossed my mind.

A few weeks ago I was approached about the idea of taking classes, seeing as how my only real hobby is running, I figured this would be, at the least, a different experience. After talking today with Mike Palmer, the owner of American Dive Zone, I'm starting to get the sense this will be one of the coolest experiences of my life.

Yes, I made that above statement, homebody Josh is taking classes offered by American Dive Zone.

When I walked into the store/ classroom at 3089 Broadmoor in Kentwood, I was greeted by two of the friendliest people I've met since coming to West Michigan. I'll be honest, new experiences make me nervous, any and all anxiety was gone when I walked in.

Mike told me all about Scuba Diving around our great state, he had stories and stories of shipwreck after shipwreck. We discussed what can be found at the bottom of Reeds Lake, the crazy things found along the lake shore of Lake Michigan. Simply put, YOU can dive down into the lake to see these things for yourself and you don't have to go far at all.

Scuba Diving and Michigan, today I learned those two things go together. I also learned there is a great place, with great people that will give you the skills you need to discover a totally different world within our world.

I signed up for a class that's in session Saturday and Sunday the 13th and 14th of this month. Keep checking back to my page and follow along as I go through this adventure.

Thinking a new adventure like this could be good for you? Your significant other? Think about this, do you need a holiday gift? This would be an experience they will be talking about forever.

Check out their open house tomorrow (the 6th) from noon to 4 p.m. to see what I'm talking about. See below about classes and other American Dive Zone info.
